Global Entrepreneurship

November 24, 2008

Everybody is aware of the word entrepreneurship. But when one sits to surf the internet to hunt for a small piece of information about this multi-syllable word then he would end up finding everything related to it, other than the definition or the meaning of the two words itself. So what is global entrepreneurship? Is it the same as it sounds like, trading done on a global basis? Yeah! You’ve are almost understood the point. But let me make the understanding of global entrepreneurship more interesting for you. Turn on your televisions. Take a close look at the advertisement of the company of Cisco if its there.  Or just try to recall the ad. You must have seen an entrepreneur, moving out of his house, bidding his wife goodbye and moving to America. All his way to the office he keeps telling people about it until he reaches a place where he has a video conference with some American officials. The message conveyed by the ad was that no matter wherever you are the company of Cisco makes it possible for you to communicate anywhere in the world through its advance technology. This is what is known as global entrepreneurship. Where the geographical boundaries lose their importance is what global entrepreneurship is all about.

Hence, entrepreneurship done on worldwide basis is known as the Global Entrepreneurship.

How to go Global? :

1

No doubt, doing business on a global business is no Childs’s play.  Handling business on a worldwide basis means one has to handle the business spread in different countries from one country and make it successful. Though this work seems to be a wild goose chase, but at the same time it is actually not. The following steps will help you in going global:

1. Set a plan to assess your requirements and nec essities and lay down your goals. It is highly important to assess your willingness and dedication to grow globally before you make a start.

2. Carry out foreign market researches and try to identify and understand the international markets.

3. Assess and pick out the methods of distributing the products you will produce in the foreign markets. For this you can select from varied methods of distribution of products from opening-up company owned foreign subsidiaries, to working with agents, executives, company representatives, distribu tors and establishing joint ventures

4. Try to learn the way to establish prices for different products, bargain for the  dealings.

5. Conduct a comparative analysis of the government and private modes of financing. No doubt, financing is always a big problem, but then government has an important role to play in boosting up the export business. Not only this, a several financial innovations have been made which have made funding of businesses and making money easier than ever.
2
6. It is highly important that you move the goods or the products to the international markets according to the market regulation of the country.

Moreover, there are many other things which you have to count upon before going global.

Understanding another Culture:

This is again a very essential thing to be done before going global. It is highly important that you gain a thorough understanding of the different c ultures of the country in which you are going to sell your product or goods. This can be done by either or all of the following ways:

1. Maintain a relationship before starting a business in the country
2. Don’t ever commit the mistake of imposing de adlines or time limits
3. Conduct your own research
4. Try to bring your own interpreter with you
5. Try to get an understanding of the body language3
6. Dress courteously and with decency

Questions to Ask You Prior to Making a Start:

1. Self-interrogation is also necessary before making a start. Let us study few of the examples of it:

2. Will the Product Concerned sell profitably in the Aimed Culture?  For this it is again important that you conduct a market research before y ou get down into any kind of business. Try to find out that which commodity is the most required in the selected culture.

3. Is the Concerned Product Known by the People of that Culture?: If the answer is A big No, then be ready to invest a lot of money in advertisement and publicity of the product.

4. Are You Comfortable With that Culture? This is highly important since you may require staying in that country for a specified span of time. Moreover, it is important that you know the language and the culture of that country.

5. How is the Infrastructure? Again, you need to know that whether the roads of the country are in a good state or not and the supplies that you make are guaranteed or not.

Advantages of Global Entrepreneurship:

1. Sales life of the products can be enhanced by exploring new markets for their sale.

2. Reduction of dependence on 4the shops of the country where you are selling the goods recently.

3. You can take the advantage of corporate know-how and expertise.

4. You will get to know how to compete with the foreign markets and beat them on their soil by entering the field of global entrepreneurship.

5. Moreover, if your business is weighed down by fluctuations in one of the markets due to seasonal changes and demand cycles, then you can perhaps make up by tapping over the markets in other countries which would compensate for the undesirable effects.

Disadvantages of Global Entrepreneurship:

1. Sometimes one may fail to plan in the strategy of going global because of the vastness of business in case of Global entrepreneurship.

2. You are getting calls from a number of countries. This does not mean that you will start dealing in every country that calls you for selling your product. You have to exhibit patience, or else, you will end up losing almost everything

3. Don’t think that the same language like English will be used in every country for business dealings. Hence, for this purpose you need to know a number of different languages.

4. A lot of traveling may have to be done for the business dealings in case of global entrepreneurship. Hence, be ready for this expenditure as well.

Stained Glass Doors- History and Present Day Importance

October 30, 2008

The use of stained glass is not of recent times. In fact the history of stained glass doors traces back to the 10th century. There was a massive use of stained glass in the cathedrals and churches of Europe. With the advent of the 12th century the Gothic cathedrals brought out the use of stained glass more beautifully which more or less dominated the European cathedrals and churches.

In spiritual terms, it was said that the presence of beautiful pictures made from colored glass would lead men closer to God. The use of stained glass in the doors and windows of churches and cathedrals made them appear lighted from within as they captured lights which gave them an elegant look, glorious along with strong sentimental environment. Moreover, they go well along with stylish and antique door knobs.

Gradually, the Renaissance era ceased the use of the sophisticated, beautiful and original stained glass method. The major reason responsible for the extinction of original art of stained glass was its time consuming method. People sought for easier and faster methods to replace the time taking method of making stained glass. Hence, the use of stained glass was replaced with the use of painted glass.

Consequently, painting was given more stress and artists of stained glass were actually a segment of painters. This in turn gave rise to the downfall of the use of stained glass doors and windows and rise of painted white glass doors and windows.

Thereafter three hundred years later in 1800s, the scientists explored glass techniques of the medieval period. There were two American painters namely John LaFarge and Louis Comfort Tiffany who liberally started experimenting in making further improvements in glass which would have diverse range of visual changes without any use of paint. Tiffany showed excellent presence of mind by experimenting   the mixing of sand, lime and soda which are the basic ingredients for making glass in untried mixtures. Though, he was simply not aware about the result of this excellent experiment. But to his surprise, the results were amazing. The glass which was produced was extremely beautiful.

Well, this was all about the use and further advancement of stained glass in history. But the story in the present times of the stained glass is entirely different. Reason is again convenience as mentioned earlier as well. It is easier to utilize painted glass (due to the tedious process of production of stained glass) in comparison to the original stained glass.

Stained Glass in Present Times: The use of stained glass in the present times has changed drastically. Today, designers and decorators love to work with painted glass for making doors and windows attractive and appealing. This is because it is much easier to first install and fit the glass in the door first, then to make out a drawing on the either side and then paint it then to perform the tedious task of producing stained glass. Moreover, being painted artistically they look more attractive and easily catch the eyes of the observer.  But before we get too involved about the use of stained glass doors and their importance, let us take a quick glance as to how they are produced in today’s era.

Refer: Antique door knobs

Production Procedure:

Making stained glass the original way could be a tedious task for those who are doing it for the first time. But the fact is that, the more one practices it, the more he will get to enjoy it and would find himself driven towards it.

On the contrary, producing stained glass in the present times is not difficult and tedious at all. All one needs is a couple of glass colors, a lead, and some sort of stencils to bring out the design on the glass beautifully. For a good start, it is essential that one gets ensured that it will get framed inside the door because it is highly difficult to alter the size of the frame once the glass has been stained. After this, glass should be laid on a table or a floor in a flat position and application of lead should be started. After the drawing of the design one should start filling in the paint and lo! The stained glass is ready to be used for doors or windows.

Decorating Home with Stained Glass:

No doubt, stained glass gives a spectacular and appealing appearance to the exteriors of the home. And not only the exteriors but the interiors can be given an eye-catching look by using them as lamp shades, doors of cabinets, indoor windows etc. Even the dining room can be beautifully decorated with stained glass by using them as shades for the ceiling lights. One can add to the beauty of the bedrooms by using stained glass for making jewelry boxes. Stained glass has always set a class apart, no matter how they are made. They have always been admired for their beauty and would continue to do so in future as well.

Types of Cabinet Doors

October 25, 2008

Whenever one plans for furniture to be bought for the house, generally the things considered are sofas, tables, chairs and . Rarely one thinks of the door and cabinets. Though they are very much a part of the furniture, they are always given a second treatment. To get a perfect finished look for the house one need to carefully select the material and look of the doors and cabinets as well. Storage space should be wisely

created in homes to make them clutter free. One needs to carefully plan what type of design and material would suit the requirement of each room. Two different rooms in the house will have different requirement of storage as well as appearance. Each room may be constructed in a different manner which requires appropriate planning for each room.

Cabinets are generally made for storage purpose, but at times they are used for display of decorative items also. Cabinets are used in all the rooms of the house, but their style and look changes in each room.  Depending upon their utility there are various materials which can be used for making cabinets and cabinet doors.

What are Cabinet Doors?

As the name suggests itself, cabinet doors are those which are meant for closing and opening the cabinets. A cabinet is generally judged on the basis of its space and ease while opening and closing the door. Hence, it is important that the doors of the cabinet concerned are checked thoroughly before selecting them and adding them to the cart.

Material Used in the Construction of Cabinet Doors:

Cabinet doors vary on grounds of the materials used in their construction. Generally, manufacturers go for solid wood for making the cabinet doors. To give the cabinet a more stylish, contemporary and sleek appearance, manufacturers use glass for the construction of the doors of cabinets. In addition to this attractive chrome door handles are used. But again, glass doors are fragile in nature and are prone to breaking. This disadvantage can be overcome by the use of fiberglass doors in the cabinet. Other significant materials which can be used by the manufacturers for the building of cabinet doors are medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and ridged thermo foil (RTF).

Types of Cabinet Doors:

Generally, the type of cabinet door on them depends on the ground as to how the door is fitted inside the cabinet. By no means, the types of cabinet doors depend on the way they appear.

Frameless:   There are many options available in the category of frameless cabinet doors. The doors and the drawers are built up directly on the side portion of the cabinet on one of the sides and it is partly covered on the reverse side section when it is shut.

Framed:  On the contrary, framed cabinet doors have four different types:

• Inset Door:  An inset door drawer is tucked in face of the frame and is covered with front ends of the cabinet box. These are generally used to give an official or colonial appearance or to give the look of a rustic farmhouse style kitchen. Such type of a door is made only with a framed mounting. However, identical appearance can be obtained in a frameless cabinet door by the use of vertical pilasters.

• Lipped Overlay Door:  Such kind of a door has a groove cut all over the door on the back ends.  A cut like this permits a part of the door to enter back into the cabinet and puts down the left part behind which is resting on the cabinet or face frame. Since the door is tucked tightly inside the frame, hence, a door handle or knob is required to open it. If seen from the front side, the door seems to be an Overlay Door. It is only when one opens it and realizes that it is actually a lipped door.

• Conventional Overlay Door:  A conventional overlay door is the most common overlay door these days. In this the front sections of the doors and drawers are built in such a fashion that they rest against the same frame. In literal terms, the word “overlay” means what amount of frame is covered by the door along with the drawer. Generally the overlay is a ½”, with 1″of the frame uncovered. The section of the front frame that is uncovered is known as “reveal”.

• Full Overlay Door:  Such a kind of overlay is attributed with the door and the drawer built to cover up the face frame in a complete manner. In general full overlay doors have less than 1/8″ between them. Again, a door knob or a handle is required for opening them. Such type of door can also be used in a frameless cabinet. But the things that are required for the installation of such doors in frameless cabinets are rails and stiles.

Refer: Chrome door handles

Conclusion:

These kind of cabinet doors give an appropriate look to the cabinet and to the entire look of the room as well.  Cabinets with such kinds of doors can be liberally used in offices, homes and at various commercial destinations. Though they are still miles away from the mainstream furniture list, they are an important of furniture which every house requires. One should choose the ideal design and material in cabinet and cabinet doors which would suit the requirement of the room thereby making it useful and attractive.

Are Fiber Glass Doors Good Enough

October 24, 2008

Doors have acted as a barrier to the external world from the very beginning. It is considered to be one of the most significant pieces of furniture in our homes. Hence, it is very important that the material of the door used should be so sturdy that it serves its purpose. Apart from the material, the look of your door furniture has to be attractive, because this is the main entrance of your house. So, in order to make your door furniture modern and stylish, mix it with a blend of chrome door handles. Spending time, effort and money on a regular basis for the repairing, replacement or reconstruction of doors is practically not possible. Moreover, doing the same is more or less an expensive deal. But if observed more closely, it would be noticed that wooden doors due to some reason or the other, lose their luster or get deteriorated frequently. Hence, at the time of the replacement, installation or buying of doors, one should keep in mind that the material of the door should be so strong and long lasting that it serves the purpose in an ideal manner. Now, the question arises that should the doors be always made out of wood in the conventional manner? Some would agree with doing the same but then they should understand that wooden doors deteriorate more frequently. So which door material door would be the best that would be there for longer period and serve its purpose perfectly?

The answer is Fiber Glass Doors. Yes. The doors made of fiber glass are considered to be the best door -building material these days. Though they look like doors made of glass, still they are unbreakable, give beautiful look to the interiors and the exteriors of the house and can be used in any kind of door arrangement  e.g. patio, sliding doors, butterfly doors etc. Moreover, being sturdy they are long lasting even. Moreover, you can even decorate your doors with attractive chrome door handles.

Why are Fiber Glass Doors Better than the Wooden Doors:

Fiberglass doors being strong by material are less fragile in comparison to the wooden doors. Moreover, they give a much more presentable look because they appear more or less the same as doors made of glass. The benefit associated with the fiberglass doors is that in spite of looking like glass; they are less perishable. Some of the other benefits of the fiber glass doors are hereunder:

• Fiber glass doors do not crack or perish like wood and continue to appear the same even ten years after of their installation
• As they are not wood, hence, no danger is there of doors being damaged by insects or termites
• Fiber glass doors are easy to clean and easy to maintain.
• Since they come with a sleek and good finishing hence, they can be painted directly
• They are cheaper than wooden doors which are made of costly wood material like mahogany, walnut timber etc.
• Fiber glass doors provide five times the insulation standards of wood
• They are best for extreme climatic regions
• Windows made of fiber glass are  nine times stronger than that of vinyl windows
• Doors made of fiberglass come in various forms of wood grains, styles and designs

Amazing fact is that, in spite of so many advantages, fiber glass doors are again reflected by few but very critical disadvantages mentioned hereunder:

Disadvantages of Fiber Glass Doors:

• The manufacturing of fiber glass doors is a very time-consuming process
• Though it comes at a cheaper rate than that of wooden doors, still, it is out of reach of middle-class people since the materials used in the construction of fiber glass doors are very expensive
• One cannot think of designing of doors which can be done in case of wooden doors where it is much easier to design. One has to satisfy himself with the available fiber glass door the way they are manufactured.

Hence, regardless of the above arguments regarding the fiber glass doors, one can still rely upon them as they are no doubt more durable and easy to maintain than the other type of doors.

Types of Fiber Glass Doors: Basically, there are six types of fiber glass doors:

• Fiber glass entry doors
• Fiber glass exterior doors
• Fiber glass garage doors
• Fiber glass front doors
• Fiber glass entrance doors and
• Fiber glass French doors.

Best Fiber Glass Door Manufacturers:

• Stanely
Masonite
• Anderson
• Simpson
• Therma Tru

Summary:  Finally, it can be quoted that if one wants to be contented with the buying and installation of the doors of ultimate kind then fiberglass doors stand to be the stupendous one for this purpose. The very first benefit as quoted earlier attached with the fiber glass doors is that they do not rot, do not soak water being non-porous,, do not crack and last for a longer span of time. One can easily rely upon the installation of fiber glass doors for giving gorgeous appearance to the both interiors and exteriors of a home as well.  Fiberglass stands to be a superb core material for the installation of exterior doors because of their outstanding insulation efficiency.  Moreover, one more and a very critical advantage associated with the fiberglass doors is that one can easily enjoy the warranty of 10-25 years with the purchase of them. In case of wooden doors, one would find himself lucky enough to obtain even one year warranty with its purchase.  For the reason that they are long-lasting and maintenance-free to a great deal, fiberglass-composite door is apt to have extended warranty. What’s more? Doors made up of fiberglass are usually not that pricey unlike those made up of wood. Another benefit  is that though fiber glass doors are made with the fibers of glass, still they greatly resemble wood since they are textured with molded wood grain and can be discolored to imitate the look of wooden doors made out of wood of cherry, walnut , oak etc.  Fiberglass plasters a frame of wooden stiles and rails, comprising wood ends. The empty gaps in the frame are packed with an insulation of CFC-free polyurethane foam.

Importance of Board Meetings

October 1, 2008

Did someone say meetings? Well, for the people in related with the high-profile jobs associated with business the entire business strategy and working of it seems to be running on the wheels of these meetings. Don’t agree with this? Well then, let me make it this way for you to get to know this matter better. Take for example a company going to take up a major project or a dream project of the company’s owner. Initially the project cannot be put to action till a consensus is made on the viability of the project. If the projects seems viable then also before the starting of the project to the launch of the project there are several decisions to be made which are not possible without meetings.  Every aspect of the upcoming project in an entrepreneurship is discussed in board meetings to make it flawless.

The directors of the company which are generally the CEO of the company, the General Manager, the Vice-President, and the Managing Director, all seem to be desperate and excited before the launch of any project as if the world will take some other shape when the product will be introduced in the market.  The final launch is the result of endless meetings of the Board of Directors.  But is a board meeting an activity where every member of the board claims himself to be the first one to attend? No perhaps. For some, the board room (where board meeting is held) is the best place to go into deep trance of slumber while the other members are busy raising their voices upon the know-how and dos and don’ts of the objective of the meeting, be it anything. So are these board meetings so boring as they sound? Does this comprise in itself only meeting of the board, gathering at the board-room to bring an innovative thing on the launch pad and these directors acting to be pilots planning, how they are going to take-off with this very new

innovation and leave this product on the right destination so that it serves its purpose?

Board Meeting: More or Less a Point Where an Event- to- be is to be decided:   Falling apart of the dual-sided argument of board meetings above, let us advance towards the key or the literal reference of board meeting.  As the name suggests itself, a board meeting is an official gathering of all the members of the board at the board room where they usually intend to discuss and converse about the direction of the trade of the industry or the company concerned. Moreover, the board tends to reach onto an inference in response to the resolution of any crisis of any kind, a new product manufacture and its consequent launch to be done, election or appointment of a new board member and so on.

Can an Entrepreneurship or an Organization Really Do Without a Meeting of the Board Members?   Well no to be very precise. Moreover, the question is not that whether a company can do without a board meeting or not. In stead, it is about the importance of the board meeting. I won’t go into the overstatement
quoting that board meeting breathes life into a company since it would be erroneous to some extent to mention that. But yes. I would definitely count on the fact that the success of a business if not completely, but still, to a great deal depends on these board meetings held.

It is not only the putting a new project at work that calls all the board members to meet. There are certain other aspects where the activity of board meetings becomes more crucial for the company or the organization concerned.  The coming up points would elaborate those aspects which make the board meeting for a company highly decisive:

I. Important for Taking out a Resolution to a Crisis:  Can you name one company which has never undergone critical circumstances and is at the peak of success. I doubt a little that you would be able to name one even. Each organization discovers itself to be in an acute position where finding out a solution to a single obstacle even seems to be a wild goose chase, while there is a huge number of them pending to be resolved. But behind the foundation and the upbringing of every organization, there is a strategy of several of masterminds. These masterminds combine to become the board members and finally they come up with solutions for these obstacles with their experience since they were the people who started the organization.

II. To Prevent Mutual Conflicts: There are times when these board members, find themselves in a messed up state due to some misunderstandings arising out of a particular situation. Consequently, the company has to suffer a lot due to difference in opinions and clashes of board of directors. Such obstacles should never be permitted further room to expand since it can lead an organization to a major crisis where the company may have to suffer greatly. Hence, a board meeting again over here helps in solution of this problem by hearing to both the parties (stricken by the conflict) and by trying to resolve it.

III. Important for Taking a Democratic Sort of Decision:  Since, the company’s inception becomes possible due to the helping efforts of the all the board members, therefore there cannot be one whole-sole person to take up all the decisions regarding the organization’s direction. The decision in such a situation is taken on the basis of votes or polls where every member polls in for what he think is right and should be implemented with reference to the direction of the company or the organization concerned.

Giving the entire argument a final touch, one can count upon the fact that the process of the company or the organization concerned stands to be incomplete if there are no board meetings. The process and running of companies would become more or less paralyzed in the absence of them.

Unusual Home Decor Practices

October 1, 2008

Once upon a time, not very long ago; at least considering the evolutionary clock; human beings decided to move indoors as it was unquestionably safer and more comfortable, then to fend for himself in the hostile climate and conditions prevailing outside, and ever since, they have been busy in the pursuit of making their abode as beautiful and as charming as possible. Some tried making it in reflection of their own personalities, while others tried to claim fame by breaking the routine and doing something unique and different to what everybody else was doing. Just like the whimsical fashion trends in clothes, hairstyles, etc. the trends in the world of Interior Designing have also followed a cyclical pattern. First, someone did something very drastic in nature, it satiated people’s quest for being unique and different, propelling everyone to adopt it immediately. This, in turn, made it the high fashion of the day later to be copied by each and sundry rendering it mundane and robbing it of its USP of being original and unique. Once, it became the established norm of the day, somebody again did something drastically different from it triggering the entire cycle all over again. And so it had been since time immemorial. What is unusual today may become the obvious tomorrow and boring the day after. But whatever may be the shelf life of these concepts they do serve their purpose in attaining for their propagators name, fame and in some cases money as well, for the time being.

Though there are numerous home decorating themes throughout the world, each a representation of the geography and history of the area from which they came from there are only a few that have been able to make a place in the mainstream. The reason for this may be numerous like functionality, economic viability, etc. They suitably become the hallmark of the era, as in Victorian style, or the area, as in Italian design, from which they hail. But in keeping up with the spirit of the central idea of this passage, let us discuss some of the unusual practices and trends in the world of home décor. As far as home decor is concerned, door furniture also plays a vital role in it and above that it can always be decorated with modern and stylish chrome door handles to give it a stylish look.

1) Minimalist Design:

A design idea that has always been in the centre of a furious debate, it found it’s most fierce, most popular and most loyal champion in the form a fictional character called Howard Roark, in the book “The Fountainhead” by Ayn Rand. In it, Roark, an architect bestowed with sheer genius and originality, fights against a system that tries to curb originality of spirit and propagates concept of lavishness which was based on the belief that beauty is an end in itself and if we take different beautiful things together and compile them, we will end up with something even more beautiful. Roark, fought this concept tooth and nail and being the hero of the novel no prize goes for guessing that in the end he emerges vindicated. He is a staunch believer and advocate of the minimalist style that says beauty is inherent in the functionality of the things and simplicity adds to it aura. So, he talks about disbanding all the clutter that people tend to accumulate around themselves and keeping only what is essential and important. Though the style still has as many disbelievers as believer but nevertheless it has attained cult status and there are many who think minimalist style is the only way of being. Hence, we have many houses ripped off every thing ostentatious and showy, comprising of only the bare minimums thereby having lots of open spaces and little need for maintenance and upkeep.

For ultra modern home decor refer : Chrome door handles

2) Casual Style:

The name itself is suggestive of what is tried to be achieved over here. It refers to a design style where everything does not seem to follow any particular theme or pattern. It is not as every piece of furniture or every painting on the wall has been accumulated with great efforts to fit into some grand theme or design. Rather, it is an amalgamation of different components based on their functionality or utility so that the entire feel of the room conveys a felling of coziness, comfort and casualness. It’s more like a place where people live in comfortably rather than a place having an antiseptic environ where one is even afraid to touch anything lest it tarnish the grandeur of the place. But let us not be fooled by the looks of this style of designing as in reality it is quite hard to get the look completely right, though it may appear otherwise owing to the simple and casual appearance attained by getting it right.

3) Vintage Retro:

Old will, probably, always remain gold time and fashion notwithstanding. Hence, this is a style that always has an ardent following among those who want to do things differently, albeit with style. Though in different time and nations, the style acquires different interpretations; so in today’s America it will mean designing the home in a way that was in vogue in America of Beetles and Rock-‘n-Roll. In Europe, it will refer to the styling being done the way manor-houses were done in the times of Knights and nobility. And in India, it will refer to revoking the grandeur of its palaces of princes and havelis of Nawabs. However this kind of designing requires high levels of sophistication, an eye for detail and a good deal of knowledge about the history. Extreme caution is also required as there is only a hair-line difference that can take the entire thing from being a classic in the making to a mockery of the bygone era, which will look quite cheesy and will be counter-productive in effect.

Environmental metaphysics

September 30, 2008

The study of environment has certain impact on human beings and animals; this study is known as environmental metaphysics. This study basically is all about the environment and its effects on human kind and the animal kingdom. But today the term environmental metaphysics is being used in a entirely different manner, it is now being labeled majorly as feng shui. Now before we head forward, let us have a look at ‘what feng shui is?’ Feng shui is supposed to have originated in China; it also gained popularity due to the Chinese trend of exploring the impact of the metaphysical designs. These designs of Feng shui are also explored in the concept of stylish and modern door furniture. There are a number of such practices going on in other nations as well, such as geomancy gained popularity in European countries, similarly, Kaso became popular in Japan, vastu shastra became popular in India, etc. Similarly the rituals and views regarding healing also gained importance, such as Hindus had a strict belief on prana and Tibetan Buddhist views, the belief of American and African nation was shamanic rituals and a method of space clearing known as Balinese. Thus we can say that environmental metaphysics not only sticks to any particular thing, rather it keeps on moving around other fields such as art therapy, aroma therapy and studying symbols with the aid of Jungian psychology.

Principles of environmental metaphysics:

The basic principles of environmental metaphysics revolve around two factors which are:

- Energy
- Elements

Energy: This is the first and foremost concept of environmental metaphysics, this basic concept of environmental metaphysics tells us about the presence of energies in the universe. The Chinese have classified the positive and negative energies into passive and active energies. Yang is the active energy while yin is the passive energy according to Chinese people. These positive and negative energies are known as pran according to Hinduism, ki in Japanese language and chi or qi in Taoism.

Elements: The second and the last concept of environmental metaphysics are its elements. In nations like India, Tibet, Europe and china, there is a strong relevance of natural elements with reference to environment and working process. Only the ways of reaching the similar goal are different. For example if we take the case of Indians and Europeans, they have a strong belief on four natural elements which are air, water, fire and earth. But the case of Chinese is entirely different; they have a belief on other five elements which are Feng shui, astrology, Chinese medicine, Jewish mystics and accupuncture. Although the paths used by individuals might be different, but the basic purpose is attaining spiritual healing.

Some common methods in environmental metaphysics to trace the energy or vibration present in the atmosphere are:

• Use of spirit guides
• Taking help of spirit ancestors
• Dowsing
• Feng shui
• Intuitive methods

Among these methods three of the most common ones are dowsing, feng shui and applied kinesiology. Let’s  have a glance at the details of these three methods:

1. Dowsing: Dowsing is also popular by other names such as doodle bugging or water witching. It is technique by which dowsers search for the hidden wells, metals, earthen currents, gemstones, etc. without any technical or scientific help. The generally used equipment is a AY or a L shaped stick or rod. Many other types of equipment are also available in the market for the same. It is a widely practiced activity for searching under earth materials.

2. Applied kinesiology: The short form of applied kinesiology is AK. This is a technique of using of human muscles strength testing by way of which medical diagnose can be done. After the diagnosis, the subsequent treatment prevails. This is all about knowing the functional status of the human body. Applied kinesiology is different from kinesiology, AK is an alternative mecine field, while kinesiology is scientific recording of changes in human body. AK is also known as pseudoscience. It is a comprehensive study of various approaches.

3. Feng shui: Feng Shui has a creative as well as scientific theory. It is a concept of balancing the elements of existence which leads to good physical conditions and good fate. The Root Cause of Entrepreneurial Failure

September 29, 2008

“It doesn’t matter how many times you have faced failure. It doesn’t matter how many times you almost got success. If you meet with success at the end then no one would really care about your previous failures, and neither should you. All you have to do is learn from those failures because all that matters in business is that you get it right once.” Says Mark Cuban
Success and failure are the two phases of any work that you do and these phases are hard to avoid in life. Failure doesn’t get invitation by anyone. It is like any school examination, students are bound to face it whether they like it or hate it. However, every failure leads towards practice and practice leads to success.
So, if you want to taste the sweetness of success, you have to taste the bitterness of failure. Failure is present in almost every area of life. Whether it is any school/ college examination, a cricket match or a beauty contest, the presence of failure can be felt everywhere.
Here we are talking about the failure of any entrepreneurship. The nature of entrepreneurial failure and its roots of causes, all these points are discussed below.

About the Entrepreneurial Failure:

It is a truth that most of the entrepreneurship fails in the first five years. It is because entrepreneurship is not meant for all. Most of the people ignore this point while selecting entrepreneurship as their career. Entrepreneurship requires some special skills. The lack of such skills in any entrepreneur can lead his business towards failure. It is quite easy to start an entrepreneurship; however, keeping it survived for long years is not a cake walk. There are plenty of aspects which needs to taken care off in any entrepreneurship.

Root Causes of Failure:

There are many causes which lead to the failure of any entrepreneurial activity. These factors act as a hindrance in the way of any entrepreneur towards success.  Some of those causes are mentioned below.

• Starting without any plan: Planning is highly important any entrepreneurial activity. If you don’t have plan, your success in entrepreneurship can be dicey. Lack of planning can make your business a mess. It can not only waste your capital invested in the business but also ruin all the efforts you have made in the business. Ignorance of planning is detrimental for any business and can easily lead towards failure.

• No managerial experience: The entrepreneurs are the managers of their business. They have to manage every area of the business. Whether it is about managing the resources of the business, managing the finances, managing the employees or managing his own work. The entrepreneur is the whole and sole authority to take care of all these areas and for this, it is highly important for the entrepreneurs to have adequate amount of managerial skills. Lack of managerial skills can lead the business no where. A successful entrepreneur is bound to be a good manager.

• Lack of entrepreneurial knowledge: Starting any business without sufficient knowledge about the particular field is not at all a wise decision for any entrepreneur. Whether you choose to become a vegetable seller or to have a sugar mill, knowledge about your business is a must for running it successfully. You have to understand the nature of your business, its needs and also the factors which can make your business successful, and for all these purpose an adequate knowledge is must.

• Deficiency of Finance: For commencing any business, you ought to have sufficient capital. It is hard to find any business which can be started without having finances for the same. Whether you have a super plan for your business, more than enough knowledge as well as experience, all these things are of no use until and unless your have the adequate amount of capital for your business. So it can be said that lack of finances can lead your business towards failure even without starting it.

• Impassive or extra emotional behavior: Impassive and extra emotional, both behaviors are harmful for an entrepreneur and can be a cause of failure for the business. An entrepreneur needs to have a balanced attitude towards his business. He should neither be ignorant of all internal and external affairs of his business nor should he panic about them. A passionate behavior is always beneficial for the entrepreneur, however, over passionate nature can be harmful.

• Avoiding the word ‘No’: ‘No’ is definitely a negative word, however, this negative word can be beneficial many times to avoid failure in business. Being an owner of your business doesn’t mean you can turn impossibilities into possibilities. Saying ‘yes’ to any one in business, without giving it a thought, is always harmful.  Most of the times the entrepreneurs commit the same mistake in business just for maintaining goodwill in the market. However, at the end they realize that instead of making goodwill, his one “Yes” has ruined his entire business. So, it is better to say a negative but satisfactory ‘no’ than to say a positive but doubtful ‘Yes’.

• Fear of ‘risk taking’ factor: Risk would prevail in any business for an entrepreneur to bear. For avoiding failure in business, an entrepreneur has to be bold enough to take the risk whenever it is required. It is hard to take step forward without facing the element of risk in the business. A major part of entrepreneurial success depends on the behavior of the entrepreneur, and if he has a tendency of getting scared with risks, the success of the business becomes doubtful.

• Having a ‘Quitting without trying’ attitude:  ‘Quitting without trying’ attitude of the entrepreneur is also one of the factors for entrepreneurial failure. It is important for entrepreneurs to understand that presumptions are not always beneficial. Quitting the business by assuming that it won’t last for long is not a wise decision of the entrepreneur. He should at least try and put efforts for getting success in the business.

All the above mentioned factors are some of root causes for any entrepreneurial failure. Although it is true that failure gives birth to success, there is hardly anyone who wants to face failure in business. So, if you want to start your own business without making mistakes, this article may add to your knowledge can be implemented in your entrepreneurial activities. May be they can help you to reach success which you would aim at.

How to Approach Venture Capitalists

September 29, 2008

A wonderful idea that can change the way the things are being conducted and will surely alter the market equations. But in real life situations, that differ greatly from the plots drawn in world of fiction. Many such ideas spend lifetime gathering dust in the closet waiting for their proverbial time to come. On the other end, in the same world of perceived reality, millions of dollars remain stuffed in the lockers of wealthy individuals with each passing day reducing them in stature and progressively diminishing their net worth in the market, till the time when the only value they would fetch will be because of their antiquity. The lot of their busier cousins is no different who remain invested in various mundane investment options always waging a losing battle against inflation and the fluctuations in the forever shaky markets.

In light of the said circumstances will it not be simply “awesome” (as a young entrepreneur will put it), if the best of both the disparate worlds could be brought together. If both complement each other so perfectly and in absence of each other are sheer wastes, will it not be amazing for every one concerned to have them thrive in a symbiotic relationship with each other. This is the basic premise on which Venture Capitalists and cash-starved startups pitch themselves in front of each other leading to a marriage that spells success and prosperity for everyone involved as well as for the markets and consumers. Moreover, VC funding is very important for a newly started entrepreneurship and the person who is investing in his money will get a complete knowledge of your project and its profits and loss.

Let us first briefly understand the concept behind this phenomenon. Venture Capital is a kind of private equity provided to young and immature startups that will otherwise stagnate and probably get wiped out for lack of funds. But let no one be mistaken as this is no act of philanthropy or CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). The Venture Capitalist is often a wealthy individual, or a group thereof, with a shrewd business sense that can spot promising and potent business ideas that are capable of rendering the deliverables in the future. They provide the much needed cash in lieu of certain interests such as stakes giving them huge control in the decision making or assurance of great returns in case of certain realization events such as IPO or trade sales.

In today’s times when every neighborhood kid fancies himself as an Entrepreneur it becomes very difficult for the true spirit and the great idea to shine through. But remember the person who is putting his money at stake is intelligent enough to differentiate wheat from the chaff provided one make all the right moves at right times, considering in the fiercely competitive business world of 21st century few will get a second chance to make a “first impression”.

Now, the under-written text will outline in brief the thumb-rules of the various protocols and methodologies to be followed while approaching a Venture Capitalist for an entrepreneurship.

1) Target the right and appropriate Venture Capitalists Funds:

It’s like a job interview or the selection round of admissions in an elite professional school. If you have what they need you will definitely cut the grades otherwise you will be politely (hopefully!) asked to leave. Most of the Venture Capitalists and the funds they create are very specific in what they are looking for funding. Nobody is a master of everything. Obviously a Venture Capitalist will prefer businesses and markets that it understands and shuns others. So, getting your homework done is always recommended. Do not waste your time and energy and that of others for something that already has bleak prospects of materializing.

2) Make a good impression by having a good and comprehensive business plan and summary:

Borrowing from the earlier text, if on needs to distinct between wheat and chaff, at least the wheat should be recognizable. A Venture Capitalist worth pursuing is always flooded with business plans each promising great returns. So a business plan seeking attention should not only outline the potential in the project but also how it plans to exploit those potentials in concrete terms as well? It should showcase the business idea in concise but clear terms suggesting the Venture Capitalists that the presenter knows what he is doing.

Similarly, the Executive Summary, ideally 2 to 3 pages long, should convey other relevant information like the Management Team, the market size, the opportunity, etc. If it will succeed in arousing the interest of the Venture Capitalist he will himself ask for more details. Till then, spare spilling your beans unnecessarily.

3) Showcase an extremely lucrative product or service that will change the market dynamics:

Somebody, who himself has lots of money to risk in an upcoming venture, will obviously not get interested by the idea of turnover reaching a few millions. So obviously the idea should be potent enough to provide the lure of considerable returns to the Venture Capitalists as well. And if your idea is so good that the thought of missing it out can give sleepless nights to them, then you will be the reigning king having the power to bargain and get the best deal for yourself.

4) Have a Management team that can lend you credibility:

Good reputation and a proven track record, whether in corporate or in academics, is always an asset. People deduce logically that someone who has delivered in past will prove equally effective in the present as well. So a Management Team that looks good in a cursory glance and later in a thorough scrutiny will always make the task of getting the Venture Capitalist all that more easier.
